The Pendulum Swings to Extremes

August 02nd, 2026 by Zen

We live in a very feminized society dominated by managerial bureaucracy, but a great many people are miserable and struggling, both male and female. This is not to say it advantages women in the ways they need. It doesn’t appear to do that for anyone other than Elites, and their henchmen.

The current order is not governed by healthy feminine values. It selectively uses traits culturally associated with women—risk sensitivity, relational enforcement, therapeutic language, and aversion to direct conflict—inside institutions built around impersonal power. Used as armor to maintain power. But the more celestial aspects of womanhood are absent.

I am going to note a little history, and make some educated predictions. I fain no vision or prophecy, but I have a wild prediction, which I would like to discuss. I think things will shortly swing to the male-dominated (shortly, meaning within the decade-ish). As with pendulum swings, there will be many who swing too hard. I want to make sure as many of us as possible, end up in a healthier state. I want even the most extreme feminists, to agree that life was better after the correction pendulum swing. But in order for this to happen, we need a vision of what is possible, first.

Because if we don’t, then the pendulum will swing back again to an even more extreme feminized managerial bureaucracy.

First, what is…

When I say feminized, I mean our current regime of therapeutic-managerial dominated by:

  • risk aversion;
  • credentialism;
  • bureaucratic procedure;
  • conflict avoidance;
  • emotional and therapeutic vocabulary;
  • suspicion of hierarchy, directness, and physical strength.
  • Women and favored minorities given preference

Notably, absent is any healthy happy femininity. Women may be benefited in ways that support power structures, the GDP, and the War of the Sexes, but not in their full feminine nature. I rather think they are purposely benefitted in such a way to antagonize the War of the Sexes.

We don’t want to see this ‘War of the Sexes’ to get any more vicious. If anything, I would like to see more people “fraternizing with the enemy”!

It is likely that any pendulum swing would be just as favorable towards healthy masculinity, as the current environment is towards healthy femininity. Meaning, we will go from one unhealthy extreme to another different one.

History

Weimar, Germany -> Nazi Germany 1920s-1930s

The transition took 5-8 years.

Sexually libertine, decadent, effeminate and emasculated, this set the stage for, and helped create the desire for Adolf Hitler. Militarism and athleticism were the ideals.

This shifted rapidly back after the war, where militarism was associated with catastrophe, male authority was weakened and women became used to running households themselves. The salaryman became the ideal.

Japan had a similar arc. Over two generations (1853-1905) they militarized (became more male dominated) and in postwar Japan the ideal became the company man who works and makes money.

Napoleonic France is another example, among many.

The pattern

  1. A society experiences defeat, disorder or perceived humiliation.
  2. Existing elites are blamed as decadent, soft or effeminate.
  3. A new movement defines national regeneration in bodily and gendered terms
    1. This means men take charge, and become dominant. Leadership, Patriarchy
  4. Schools, armies, youth organizations and media standardize the new ideal.
  5. Men are assigned warrior/provider roles; women are assigned either mother-reproducer roles or masculinized worker roles.
  6. The supposed return to “ancient tradition” is often largely invented.

The reverse sequence follows catastrophic war:

  1. Martial masculinity becomes associated with ruin.
  2. Military institutions lose legitimacy.
  3. Economic reconstruction becomes the new heroic project.
  4. The soldier is replaced by the worker, technician, consumer or family man.
  5. Aggression is displaced into business, sport or bureaucratic competition.

In times of uncertainty, and war and catastrophe, men who can provide resources and stability, will be important. Both everything I see in in the news, and what I can feel coming “in the air”, as it were, feels like we are entering times of significant upheaval. The long calm is coming to an end. As Elder Neil A Maxwell said “But all the easy things the Church has had to do have been done. From now on it is high adventure!”

How will this play out and how could it play out

We are seeing institutions lose legitimacy and capability. There is incompetence in many official positions. Experts are routinely revealed as wrong or ignorant. Chaos increases the need for rapid, intelligent and decisive action. Safety and protection will greatly desired. The need for genuine masculine traits will increase.

Authoritarians of all kinds (even spiritual!) will arise, as well gangs, mercenaries, thugs, and lotharios.

But we will also see Patriarchs (in the best sense of the word), founders, and builders creating new institutions and communities. I think there is going to be a lot of building from scratch, while old institutions decline.

I suspect a part of the reason (not all, but some) for the transgender movement is a lack of healthy examples of men and women living their highest potential. In order have a healthy society, we need a clear vision for and examples of healthy masculinity and femininity. We may see women’s business talents, for example, focused more on family businesses and enterprises.

Household authority is a very prickly topic. Much of what is thought of as modern marriage will have to be re-negotated. If war vastly reduces the number of men, we could see changes in structure as well. Much of modern marriage is just serial monogamy-ish anyway. There are possible healthy changes and many possible unhealthy ones.

Of course, many women will live single and immoral, but this won’t be as respected. (Hopefully)

Male-specific organizations will return and fake credentialism will collapse.

What will be important will be competance, authority, knowledge and legitimacy in an uncertain and unstable world.

I don’t have all the answers here, on how to arrange things perfectly. But we would be wise to plan as much as we can. In order to make this healthy, we absolutely must have revelation, or we risk society and government pathologies of all kinds. But if things degenerate this much, we will have the opportunity to make a real Zion community.

And I predict this will happen in 10-15 years.
