Nothing ever happens.
This is why they are marrying and giving in marriage right up until the Flood, or the Second Coming. There are signs and portents, incredible events… and then nothing. Life jogs on, a little different but basically still routine.
When Christ entered in triumph into Jerusalem, this guy was in the back of the crowd whispering nothing ever happens. And by almost all outward appearances, he was soon proved right.
