I am not a musical person. I do have more authors in my extended family than musicians, but I am not talented that way either. But when the church asked for membership to try and write new hymns, I felt compelled to try. And my daughter was convinced we needed more Sacrament hymns, so I forged ahead regardless of ability.
It is a 87878787 time signature, like O, My Father, or Truth Reflects upon our Senses. These are the first three verses and a very rough idea for a fourth verse. Rough is probably understating it. Any and all criticism or suggestions are appreciated.

You don’t have to be temple worthy to have a temple worthiness interview with your bishop.
A prime example of the nameless virtue (#namelessvirtue).
Come to think of it, mortality and the keeping of the first estate are all a giant exercise in the nameless virtue. A more deliberate method of putting yourself in the way of having all your flaws exposed I cannot imagine. Maybe that’s the difference between the great majority whose mortal experience is only fetal or as a very young child, and those of us who live longer. Maybe they knew perfectly well they were going to flub it and volunteered to come anyway, while we minority of optimists felt that it would be a challenge but believed we were up to it.
I haven’t seen it. A devout Catholic friend has. She says it’s worth seeing, but only mature teenagers and older should see it, and even adults may need to look away in places, as did some in her group.

I want to have a quick reference to this conversion story.
And because link rot is a thing, I hope the author won’t mind me putting a backup-copy here.

[“Instead of just standing there watching, can you get me more popsicle sticks for my important STEM work?”]
Coming home from work today, my daughter greeted me with, “Daddy, look what I made in STEM today!” This year the kids have been attending a 2-day/week homeschool co-op. “STEM” is one of their subjects, and yes, it stands for “Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.”.
What she made was a little caterpillar marionette, constructed of colored fuzzballs on a string, draped from a popsicle stick. It was cute, and I am a proud papa. It’s the perfect sort of activity for a six-year-old. It was also what in a more innocent age would have been called “arts and crafts” rather than anything to do with “STEM.” (more…)

I think this is the best take I’ve seen of it yet.
The gospel, the church and the Book of Mormon serve to unite people, to “un-other.” (more…)
But only the right kind of obedience.
Or, please…. “go thou and do likewise.”

This is what I’m doing with this Book of Mormon distribution project, with a focus on how you can adapt and adopt it into your weekly efforts.
I intend to do two levels of approach here:
1) a detailed how-to, like a diagram of foot-steps to learn dance moves, just to get you started.
2) But there is also an over-arching concept, which is to “find what works for you, and do it over and over.”
The first is for those who want to follow a pre-existing path; to go where someone else has gone, to do something that already works. The second, is for those who are more like explorers/trail-blazers to find new paths, or maybe innovators/artists to invent their own dance. I hope that reading my stories will inspire the second type to blaze new trails, and create new methods of distribution.
As inspiration, or guidance, I think it necessary to keep in mind that in President Benson’s vision of flooding the earth with the Book of Mormon, he had several aspects in mind. These may help you understand why he said to widely distribute the Book of Mormon. (more…)
