The Woman with the Clenched Fist

There once was a woman whose hand was clenched into a fist. She didn’t want to hit anybody; the clenched fist was very much not convenient.

She tried different things to unclench it: medication, injections, massage, and soaking her hand in a pitcher of very warm water with Epsom salts. None of these worked.

A wise man asked if she had tried unclenching her hand herself. She was indignant. She said that she was already doing so much to get her hand unclenched, it was unreasonable to expect her to unclench it in addition to everything else.
