This grave, melancholy essay on death and ill health was the thing I am the most glad I read today.  There is a  thread of holiness winding through it.

the difference between optimism and pessimism, and between tragedy and triumph, can just be a matter of where and when we start and stop a narrative

Well . . . that was a synchronicity. My mother’s been battling ill health the last few weeks. The blessings she’s been given said little about immediate healing or even eventual healing. They were more in the ‘trial of your faith’ vein.
This morning was dark and difficult. I hope she can be healed, but if not . . .
. . . Well, let’s just say I’d have one more reason to look forward to the Resurrection, aside from my own personal chronic aches and pains.
