I wasn’t going to post, but this is stuck in my mind.
It is true, that the Right has more intellectual diversity. To a degree, that is a good thing. But only to a degree. The purpose of Marxism is power (or promising free stuff). And for whatever criticisms of it we have, it gives the Left power, because they are all on the same page. Not perfectly, but to a far greater degree than the Right.
The Right doesn’t entirely know what it wants, or what line to hold. Hence, the advantage of a ‘thought terminating cliche’. They don’t have to relitigate or re-evaluate problems all the time.
That said, I don’t think the ultimate answer is to be a Conservative. There is nothing left to conserve.
Time for a new Renaissance.
I suppose I just need my ‘thought terminating cliches’ ready first.
