Keep on Talking

January 25th, 2026 by G.

On the sweetness of Mormon life.

You are at a tiny little branch in a tiny town on the snowy plains.  You are there with your father-in-law.  None of you have been here before, you are visiting him while he is a on a work detail in this place.

You left with plenty of time because of the snow, so he gets into a long discussion with the Branch President.  Two texts come in–the two speakers for the service are snowed in.  Why don’t you talk then, the Branch President asks him.  He does.

On the sweetness:
You are at a stake devotional, and the stake president says, “Look at someone around you and tell them what you love about them. Not like, love.”
You turn to your friend. Last week he gave you a powerful blessing two days before your stroke-stricken mother came home from the hospital. You were completely overwhelmed, and that blessing undoubtedly sustained you through that most difficult week.
“I love how willing you are to serve everyone around you,” you say with complete and utter sincerity to that saintly young man, who has been checking in on you since he noticed you crying through the ward Christmas program. He gave you a blessing then, too.
You take a moment to dwell on gratitude for the many earthly angels who have sustained your family over the last two months.
The closing hymn is ‘Welcome Home’.
