The Shedding of Blood
June 17th, 2021 by G.
I am too indulgent a father. I killed two of the kids’ roosters for them this morning.
Afterwards I spontaneously asked God for forgiveness for killing them. I didn’t think about it, it just happened.
It felt right to do. But I did not and do not feel guilty.
Go figure.

There is a suggested prayer for kosher slaughter, nothing real official, from 1712:

Dhabihah is the corresponding Muslim method of slaughter.
(Halal means “permitted”. And halal meat needs to slaughtered in a dhabihah manner.)

There is disagreement on what should be said. The Koran says what cannot be said (no names of other gods), but some say that means the name of Allah should be said.
You can see interesting parallels there in that wiki entry to the classic “the Law versus the Regs” dichotomy also illustrated in Rabbinic Judaism, ie, Torah vs Talmud.
