I sense a great disturbance in the weak force.

You mean carbon-dating could be off?

Carbon dating, and other radio-dating methods should be fine, unless Earth has drastically changed its orbit at some point, or the fusion processes in the Sun has dramatically changed (even less likely).

Think of this result as a yearly wiggle in the decay rate, but the average rate is still pretty much the same.

I agree that’s probably the fairest take, Zen. Carbon dating correlates well with tree rings, if I’m not mistaken, for at least as far back as we have usable tree ring data.

I remain deeply skeptical of the GSI 7-second “wiggle”, as are most scientists I know who are familiar with the claim.

I am of the opinion that this ball of mud upon which we reside was used in pre-Adamic creations, perhaps way before our own Grand Council in Heaven. The “materials” mentioned in Abraham 3:24, may then have been recycled from those previous creations or worlds, and not virgin material, ie, not completely unorganized raw elements.

This ball of mud may indeed have been brought here from another solar system, or moved here from a different orbit in our solar system. I see no scriptural dictate that requires us to assume that Genesis 1:1 or Abraham 3:24 was some absolute beginning, because Joseph Smith taught there is no absolute beginning.

To me, Genesis 1:1 and Abraham 3:24 indicate a relative starting point, or perhaps merely our starting point, the beginning of our turn on this ball of mud.

So Heavenly Father put us on a “hand-me-down” planet, rich in the precious muck created by decomposed dinosaurs. Who’s going to complain?
