D&C When All Else are Done
November 16th, 2025 by G.
Another entry in our bad habit of talking about the Doctrine and Covenants after you have already had a chance to discuss it in Sunday School, instead of telling you what you can say beforehand. Comprising D&C 125-132.
- The bases of our existence are physical, social, and increase
- Elder Gong’s talk about sitting by people you don’t know has a cosmic version, where in the afterlife you are trying to unite with Bronze Age Israelites, pre-Columbian tribesmen…
- The doctrine of eternal marriage is explicitly about continued growth. Therefore the question should not be, ‘is this the person I want to spend the rest of forever with?” Since even if you ask that about yourself the answer is probably no. The question is, “is this the person who can become the person I want to spend the rest of forever with?” Paradoxically, that is an easier question to answer, since it is almost solely a question of desire.
- “Whatever principle of intelligence….” Which means you are in a position to share with others in the next life. If you have questions about polygamy, e.g., you can can ask your ancestors about it. You can ask Joseph about it. You can find out from Emma what she thinks.
- This was an extremely bad Sunday for an investigator to have come. You may want to send up a prayer for her.

Why do we have to emphasize the plural marriage aspect of Section 132? As I studied the section I thought it was all about Celestial marriage. It would have been nice to discuss how we can strengthen our current marriages instead of getting all angsty about something in the past that we aren’t being asked to live currently and may never be asked to.
I’ve always been grateful for Section 129 too. Today I had the thought that perhaps the same keys apply to mortals: a person of integrity, a just person, will not try to deceive us, whereas deceit seems to be Satan’s (and his minions) modus operandi.

you do understand that all of Mormonism is pure nonsense?

No Dude, I don’t understand that at all. Sorry you’re all confused about what is truth and what isn’t. I’m not confused and know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s restored New Testament Church.
You do know that it’s either us or the Roman Catholics. We are the only churches that claim direct authority from God, the Catholics claim to descend from the original apostles, and we claim to be a restoration of the original authority.
All the protestants are just break offs (apostates) from the Catholics.
But what are you doing here if you think it’s all nonsense? Why not read up on your own religion and leave us alone?

No need to respond to low-effort bait with any kind of effort.
> The question is, “is this the person who can become the person I want to spend the rest of forever with?”
I think this is going to stick with me for a very long time. I wish I had heard it a long time ago.
