Revelation Scripture Prospective

I’m looking for any suggestions you have to make engaging with restoration scripture more valuable this year. Any and all thoughts welcome.
As part of this it might be helpful to start by reflecting on what helped you with the Book of Mormon this year.

One thing I’ve enjoyed doing over the past few weeks has been going through “Revelations in Context” from the Church’s website.

It gives some additional historical background behind many of the revelations found in Doctrine and Covenants in a way that helps one better understand the progression of issues and ideas Joseph was dealing with once the Restoration got underway.

I’m re-reading the Saints volumes of church history to get the stories behind the revelations. The lack of stories in the D & C is what makes it so dry and boring at times. Stories help us remember doctrines and principles. I read the entire Doctrine and Covenants at the the end of the year and was reminded that it is pretty much a organizational handbook with some personal revelations to and about specific persons and situations (mission assignments).
What helped me with the Book of Mormon was watching John Hilton III’s Book of Mormon Masterclass videos on YouTube. His insights and explanations to our modern lives was superb.

Kent Larsen at Times and Seasons started a series on poetry to go with each week of 2025 Come Follow Me. His stated plan is to put them out a week or two beforehand to benefit any teachers who may wish to benefit in their preparations.
