In the hearts of conspiring men

The GLP-1 receptor agonists work, and the peptides-treatments wave is far from over. I am not defending the “medical experts” by any means, but in my personal experience, The “Reddit Crowdsourcing Modal Report” has decent accuracy and prediction power for both pros and cons. The average result for most people is mostly positive, but the catch is that if one stops then one tends to go right back to where one started. Though, same goes for anything that helps people lose weight, diet and exercise included. You never get to stop mowing the grass.

I do agree that these drugs appear to be useful to some degree and their benefits are strangely broad spectrum. Scott Alexander has written some interesting things on that.

Still, it is worth noting, how this was fast tracked into service, and many of its side effects are still unknown. Obesity is a body reaction, a defense to an unhealthy environment. And we are getting rid of the defense, without fixing the underlying issues. Still, obesity is such an issue, *maybe* it is worth it.

But we dare not forget how compromised our ‘experts’ are.
