I have been pondering the abundance of child sexualization in the media, even in children’s cartoons.
And I realized, that if you have an identity that revolves around sex, then your entire worldview will be understood in terms of sex. Anyone who doesn’t do this, will have to do it very deliberately and with difficulty.
In this sense, once we have the sexual revolution (yes, heterosexual as well as homosexual and *-sexual), then child sexualization is inevitable. If you have destroyed the underpinnings for why not, then you can’t be surprised to see it happen.
Your inability to imagine it happening is an insubstantial barrier to it actually happening.
If you accept a premise, then you can’t be shocked that you also accepted the conclusion. Of course, these two are rarely packaged together.
Babylon is a jealous idol, as well as a cruel and duplicitous one.

One addition to that explanation is that one should not underestimate the strength of the connection between imagination, creativity, and the sexual impulse. There is a reason pornography is such a scourge and was always going to hit society like a devastating flood the minute the dam holding it back was blown up.
I suspect that it’s not so much that sexual matters will only come to the forefront in creative works when it is a core element of a dominant social ideology, but that this is the default state of man as seen in many primitive pagan / cultic objects and practices, and for this to be transcended requires a conscious and active effort at suppression and displacement of base impulses in order to apply talents and reach for new heights of excellence in other modes of creation and expression.
My impression is that the subject of sex is almost unique in its power to motivate most people and especially creative types to temporarily get captivated and lost in a long-duration flight of imaginative fantasy with a whole ‘script’, usually including projecting oneself into ‘the action’ and often with elements of particular preferences, obsessive, scenarios, fixations, kinks, and fetishes completely unachievable in reality and thus untethered to constraints and imaginable as experiences of ultimate power and ecstasy. And all this with the additional feature that merely thinking about these situations and images often automatically generates actual physical arousal and urgent lusts.
If you don’t tell – really force – creative types to cut it out, my impression is on top of any intentional and ideologically-motivated reasons, that this kind of connection and motivation (and also creative laziness – “sex sells” is easier) will lead them ‘naturally’ to always push the limits of how much sex they can insert into anything they create.

This must be why we’re told to “bridle our passions”; sexual expression is good and proper in the right place and at the right time. But it is also a fire that will destroy all it touches if not kept under control. Of course, Satan wants us all destroyed so he is all for unbridled, fiery passion left unfettered and able to destroy us completely.
(Sorry, was that redundant?) I suspect this is part of the reason so many Christians are praying for the Second Coming to come quickly.

Fire was just the metaphor I was thinking of. I child starts a fire, and expects it will get just so big, and then stop. But, of course, that isn’t what fire does. Fire, like the Sexual Revolution, will continue to grow until it metastasizes every last inch of its host, until nothing is left.
