Now the fellow that Elder Renlund was talking about can put on the cover of his book, “As Featured In General Conference”.

Elder Rasband, and Pres Nelson are book slingers.

Faith in Every Footstep was never going to be a song for the ages, but today’s performance was a rare miss by the choir.

Elder Sivila snuck a bit of priesthood meeting into the Evening Session.

Truly, there is nothing new under the sun. They’ve been talking about the gospel being counter-cultural for as long as I’ve been alive – this is just the first time it struck home with me that yeah, living what used to be a normal moral life is now . . . hmm, superversive. Not subversive, because we’re building strong foundations for something beautiful that will last through eternities.
Also, Bishop Causse’s talk is going to become a classic like then-President Uchtdorf’s ‘Create’.

Pretty subversive the way he (properly) placed childbearing at the summit of stewardship for creation.

He’s going along talking about science or art:
Me: Say childbearing! Say it, dang it!

Me: Yes!

He stuck the landing like a master

Wow. 18 temples announced in one conference.
2 for Philippines.
2 for Brazil.
4 for Mexico, all near Mexico City, double wow.

One was a second temple for Buenos Aires, and another was a second temple for Las Vegas, which astonished me. That’s the stage of temple siting now, second temples for cities with a dozen stakes.

Did anyone else think that the way Pres Nelson’s voice cracked when he said “… ’til we meet again” had any significance ?

Books yes. Thought the same. Although it could just as easily be saying goodbye to someone else who may pass away before next time.

My whole family looked at each other after that farewell and went “. . . oh, no.”
But it could well be that he simply knows these next six months are going to be difficult for the world in general.
His talks were of great interest to me, personally, because one sentence he said was nearly word-for-word from my patriarchal blessing – and it’s one of those ‘may you live in interesting times’ things.
