Slave Morality
The children of Israel had slave mentality. Probably not the way Nietzsche would understand it, but so what? They had it.
We saw it earlier in the short-term focus they had, where Moses couldn’t be gone for a minute without them panicking. Ditto where as soon as a miracle is done they forget about it. Living from moment to moment is typical of slaves. No one ever said that long-term thinking is will to power, but they should have.
The slave mentality gets blatant in Numbers 13. They go scout out the land of Canaan and coming run back, most of them, with their tales between their legs like whipped dogs. There are people already there! They have forts! They are tall! They think of themselves as people who are meant to be beaten. They do not think of themselves as people who are meant to conquer and rule.
They see only the material and the physical. They don’t grasp things like initiative, morale, cohesion, or decadence.
