Roe V. Wade
December 02nd, 2021 by G.
Mississippi has a law that mostly bans aborting babies after the 15th week of pregnancy. The Supreme Court justices heard oral arguments about it yesterday.
How the voting and logrolling among the justices will go I have no idea.

A couple items I read today:
Opening paragraph by Washington Post columnist Marc Thiessen:
“The United States is one of just seven out of 198 countries that allow elective abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Two of the others are China and North Korea. By contrast, 39 out of 42 of European nations — including France and Germany — bar elective abortions at 15 weeks or less (though with broader exceptions than typically seen in the United States). Not one permits them through all nine months of pregnancy, as do seven states and the District of Columbia.”
From the abstract of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists practices bulletin on 2nd trimester abortions:
“In 2008, 1.2 million abortions occurred in the United States, of which 6.2% took place between 13 weeks of gestation and 15 weeks of gestation, and 4.0% took place at 16 weeks of gestation or later. Only 1.3% of abortions are performed at 21 weeks of gestation or later. The proportion of abortions performed in the second trimester, usually defined as between 13 weeks of gestation and 26 weeks of gestation (as calculated from the last menstrual period), has remained stable during the past two decades.”

I previously referenced a talk by Elder Cook in a discussion on birth rates. Here is an excerpt on abortion:
“We are so numbed and intimidated by the immensity of the practice of abortion that many of us have pushed it to the back of our minds and try to keep it out of our consciousness. Clearly the adversary is attacking the value of children on many levels.”
“…Lucifer has supported abortion and convinced many people in a horrific paradigm shift that children represent lost opportunity and misery instead of joy and happiness.”

I’m hopeful. I thought this was impossible. But it seems we might see some real change.
If not, let’s all finally become realists that the fix is in and that we are either voting to give power to the same side who plays the nation against one another.
