One thing I love about the church: we are strongly hierarchical, so it’s pretty clear what the chain of command is. At the same time, we are supremely democratic, in that we might be called to the ‘highest’ or ‘lowest’ calling, and most of us are at least willing to serve our span of time, and happy enough once that span is done, to serve in a different capacity.
