Forsake your sins

February 28th, 2010 by G.

On the sweetness of Mormon life.

The Young Men’s lesson is on repentance. We read a verse. “Forsake your sins,” it says.

Me: What does ‘forsake’ mean?

Silence. Blank looks. On one face, something dawns.

Young man: I know. It’s like when you break up with a girl and she says, oh my gosh, can we still be friends, and you say NO.

Nice. I’m borrowing this. It will fit well amidst a variety of examples, but will also make the point in a unique way.

Shades of Spencer W. Kimball from Miracle of Forgiveness.
