Home Church, Easter 2019

April 22nd, 2019 by G.

We watched the Music and the Spoken Word for today. It was lovely, barring the dresses for the bell ringers. We also tried to watch the Tabernacle Choir’s Easter special but the narration was pageant-tier bad and we could not stomach it. We worked on a song for church. We bore testimony to our children. We talked about our dead loved ones for whom we have the hope of resurrection.

I’ve been avoiding using videos of any kind for home church (not for any good reasons, just personal bias) but because of a nasty flu that swept through every member of my house this past week I finally gave in. I simply went through the bible videos produced by the church that deal with the last week of Christ’s life chronologically with my kids. I gave a congested commentary as they played to explain things that seemed weird to them (like waving palm fronds in the air).

This week ended up being the most engaged my kids have been in any of the lessons so far….to the point of spontaneously asking me questions about Christ’s suffering at other moments in the day.

Heh!

For some reason, church videos we do as part of home church are much more interactive than normal. The kids ask questions, we stop to go over things, there is more discussion afterwards.
