No More Saturday Evening GC

November 20th, 2025 by G.

No more general conference on Saturday evening.  I am not happy about this.  That does not mean that it was a bad decision or needs to be changed.  All I am saying is that I personally would like more general conferences instead of less and I will miss the Saturday evening session.

Heck, I miss priesthood session a lot.

I am less sorrowful about it.

This has certainly been the trend. Church has gotten shorter, while we are being counseled to do more study at home. How many of us have done that? In my mind, it makes things like this blog all that much more important.

I suppose we should have seen this when Priesthood session got downgraded years ago. The evening session has been searching for its identity since then.

I have a post draft titled, “April 5, 2026,” because that is the next year’s Easter Sunday. Will the next General Conference be four hours on Saturday and one on Sunday? With four sessions next October, will there be a new pattern of hearing from only 8 members of the Quorum of the Twelve?

Just a short time ago my husband and I were talking about how we wished the Saturday night session would revert to Priesthood one conference and Relief Society for the other. I was rather disappointed by the announcement; but I’m not in charge so I don’t get to make the decisions. I’m rather envious of families that use the extra time to study together. We’ve never done that as my husband doesn’t want to. I’ve studied by myself for the past decade since the children have left home.
