Another “there are worse things than…” thought, recently shared with friends: There are worse things than slogging thru the alfalfa fields, pulling a pipe to a new location for the half flooded/ half piped version of irrigating I do; the sweet, purple scent rising with each step; God’s lovely crawling things using my legs for ladders to see to the edge of the pasture, the edge of their universe; and then, that chaos of Nature eventually giving way to Farmer Drew’s orderly row of bales, and a new scent of fresh cut hay.

There are worse things than cutting peaches late at night for peach butter, sneaking a slice here and there, and remembering that you grew those peaches, they came off a tree you begged for as a birthday present one year. You watch a podcast on worship and ponder on the many ways that gardening has become worship for you.
