Why Do You Dance

At a dance, the ladies were chatting.
I’m here, one said, to attract a man.
That is a good reason, her partner in conversation said, but I’m afraid I am here just because I love to dance, and her eyes shone when she said it.
That’s very nice, the other said, but in her mind the lady wondered, how will she ever attract a man with an attitude like that.
The lady needn’t have worried. She attracted a man.

‘Her eyes shown’ or ‘Her eyes shone’?
I have often observed that people are at their best when talking about, or even better doing, the things they love. So obviously it’s attractive to be joyfully doing that thing you love.
Funnily enough, my aunt met my uncle in the middle of a dance competition; despite their 15-year age gap, they fell in love almost immediately, and stayed that way through over 50 years of marriage. Their song was Moon River.
