What Does It Mean to Glorify God

In verses where it says something along the lines of ‘and the people glorified God,’ what does that mean?

The core of glory is earned respect/merited love, so the surface meaning here is praising/loving/ being grateful to/acknowledging: God.

College Daughter texts:

We know that God’s glory is bringing to pass the Immortality and Eternal Life of man, yes? So in other words… atoning powers. Redemption from physical and spiritual death.

So when the people are glorifying God, does that just mean they’re exercising the powers of thr Atonement in their lives? Like, experiencing Alma’s ‘mighty change of heart’ or having their efforts to serve and lift he consecrated through the enabling power?

This verse – Ether 12:4 “[…] which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God.”

Doesn’t that kinda sound like they are exercising the Atonement?

You add glory the Father and the Son when through them you become glorious.
