Happy Pioneer Day

July 24th, 2020 by G.

Honor and glory to them all.  They built a great inheritance.  If we squander it, we can only expect that they, like the father of the prodigal, will still welcome us in when we return to truths they built.

Remember!

Why, G. Somehow I was under the impression that your boy was your youngest. Evidently not so. Wonderful!

Did you go on your own mini-Trek? We used to do that when we were younger – dress up and take our homemade garden cart through the streets and around the local pioneer-era temple. Dad makes a wonderful pioneer/mountain man, and he knows all the songs they used to sing and the stories they’d tell, because his grandma sang and told them to him.

We used to volunteer at a local living history farm, which has a pioneer site. We’d live a day around the dugout and emerge with a great appreciation for modern appliances and the fact that our roof doesn’t rain bugs every night. Dad helped raise the oxen barn one summer; he walked the bent (the tallest beam) without a safety harness. Fun times!
