Praise the Lord in the Mountains

On the sweetness of sitting on the veranda of a little church high in the mountains. You look over the valley. Your daughter plays gospel tunes on an old piano.

Yesterday, just after church we had a linger longer. Then I got invited to sing show tunes with a group from my ward after ward prayer until the building closed. We sat around chatting on my friend’s front porch well after dark, when for the first time in over a month, we had a little bit of rain. The scent of petrichor was strong and sweet. And I had the thought: sometimes, community in the church isn’t what it should be, but right here, right now, we are building Zion. And all was very well.
