From among that group: eyebrow-raising history of the US Asst Sec of Health, who transitioned in 2011 at age 54. Worked in pediatrics/adolescent medicine prior to transitioning. Then was appointed to Penn state govt positions a few years after transitioning.

Married in 1988, had two children, divorced in 2013.
