All Infinities Lead to Heaven
Think about the mystery of the dispensations. Yes, nations fall away and need the Gospel refounded for them. But that is not all dispensations are. They seem to have a pattern among them, and the contents and style of each dispensation differ.
Why us? Why are we the last dispensation?
The simple and right answer is technology, wealth, and the global reach of our civilization. We either figure things out or all mankind goes under.
But I think there is a second reason. (I’m groping at this one. Nothing I say here is too sure yet.) It’s about what makes the West the West. The West is Faustian. It strives to push up against the limits and for the infinite. Calculus is Western.
I have this idea that every goal and every philosophy, when iterated to eternity, leads to the Gospel. Wherever you start, if you take long enough a view, you end up in the same place.
You could believe in the Greatest Good for the Greatest Number. Satisficing. The Kantian Categorical Imperative. Virtue and tradition. Darwinism. You could be a lover of beauty. You could be a family man. Followed truly and faithfully, they all lead to the same end.

“Gospel”, other than the literal meaning of “good news”, could also be defined as “the ultimate reality.”
Or, to attenuate the use of “ultimate,” “the Gospel” is the highest or ultimate-est reality that has so far been revealed to mortal man.
“The Gospel” is the one “thing” which we cannot avoid, no matter our beliefs or views.
The closest thing to “not-the-Gospel” is Outer Darkness.
All three kingdoms of glory are part of this ultimate reality — just different parts and different positions within the same whole of Father’s dominion.
Every goal/philosophy/system, that does not deny reality, ends up in one
of the three heavenly kingdoms.
Is this part of what you’re getting at?

I must thank Dr. Charlton for introducing me to this by Blake: “If the fool would persist in his folly he would become wise.”
There is another thought that sprang to mind when reading the title, though: in an infinity, there are no average numbers. Every single one is much closer to the Beginning than most others.
Finally, the infinities hiding between the natural numbers ought to give us pause when considering just how much…more there is.

Oh, dang, I always forget, it’s pseudo-markdown here. *italics*.
The other thing that’s occurred to me is that the Gospel is a manual for what ought to remain constant, even in the face of infinite(!) variation.

And yes, I vacillate between thinking there’s something here, and that I’m fooling myself. But it feels like something’s there.

spdi: in comments, most html text decoration works with angle brackets, (less than/greater than). Let’s see:
i for italics
b for bold
’em’ does this
u for underline

Oops, that’s why you should always read the previous comments before posting one of your own!

Considering the narrowness of the way, I expect most infinities have too much drag to give Escape Velocity. Nor are they sufficiently well aimed – would they optimize what is needed? Or perhaps I misunderstand.

But a more interesting question would be, why are there 12 tribes? Why is Judah on a different path from Ephraim, than from the Lost Tribes?
Temporally, why do we have dispensations? And why have they different powers and glories?
God has allowed specialization, so that someone understands every spiritual challenge. So, no matter what challenges come our way, there are people (on this side of the veil or the other) who understand how to overcome.
