Mourning with
July 21st, 2020 by John Mansfield
My stake president died yesterday. Hundreds of us fasted for his recovery, and that changed last night into a fast of mourning. Since yesterday morning, the spaces of time without a thought of President Baird have been brief and fleeting. My thoughts turned to his wife, to others in the stake who had much more experience with him, to my son who spent three months working with him on a farm, to the disappointment President Baird would have felt to have left his tasks suddenly and undone. But a large measure of my thoughts are my own regrets that his time leading our stake had been cut short.
