I was partway through elaborating a beautiful theory about how the heavily Christian content in 1 and 2 Nephi and Jacob was either Mormon’s (1) interpolation or (2) his misreading as a result of language change and the drift in the meaning of glyphs or (3) an example of the usual practice of attributing one’s own insights to revered predecessors — when I remembered that Mormon stuck in the Small Plates of Nephi without any editing.

Ignore the half-hearted attempt to find parallels to modern politics. This discussion of Wordsworth’s politics–and especially of the way he found moral meaning in the beauty of nature, family, and tradition–is both lovely and inspiring.

Good. I’d like to think that the men tasked with defending my country are at least a little more competent than the ones from Harvard tasked with running my financial system.

Oh, rather. I mean to say, pass your eyes over the Wooster physique. Trim, I hear you saying. Svelte. Soignee. Yet my idea of exercise rather stops with a quiet stroll or batting a few tennis balls. I’m not one of those strenuous chappies, what?
