What is a freedom? Here’s one quick and dirty guide.

A lot of debates in politics and religion are really, at a deep level, about different ideas of what freedom is. The more intellectual debaters will start debating freedom directly and it all can get pretty confusing. After all, freedom’s freedom, right?

Sadly, no.

Here’s one quick and dirty way to understand the different approaches to freedom: when someone is talking about freedom, are they talking about the kind of freedom you have when you take vacation, or the kind of freedom you have when you’re the CEO?
