The term “intellectual” is one frequently found in descriptions of political groupings and presumably refers to writers, artists, poets, philosophers, and other idlers whose influence is considerably greater than their numbers or contribution would warrant.
Any essay that starts with the Jubilee and ends pointing out that student loans should neither be heavily subsidized nor given special treatment in law, that essay is a good essay.
Once you control for SAT scores and GPA, it doesn’t matter what college you go to. It matters what college you apply to. (more…)

Yeah, I pretty much agree. We should cut out college for everyone except the teetotalers, and them only if their parents don’t pay for it.
Them are some purty concepts. Of course, conceptually, there’s a feller out there that’s as tough ‘n ornery as Pecos Bill, but I ain’t met that feller yet. Conceptually, folks are smarter than cattle, but ain’t none of my longhorns paid me tuition for the privlige of bein’ herded.
