A man who betrays his wife…

January 24th, 2018 by Bookslinger

… would also betray his country.

(Not original to me. I forgot where I picked it up.)

This aphorism’s truthfulness is apparent in the political scandals of the last 25 years.

I think it has been documented that our current president was not faithful to his first two wives. And it has been alleged that he was not faithful to his current wife.

I do not think there is any reason to believe the President Trump has done anything wrong. The fact that he gave $130,000 to a porn star just shows that he is a kindly man who likes to surprise deserving young ladies with generous gifts. The fact that it was done under the table does not mean it was hush money, it just shows that he is a modest, humble man who does not seek public recognition for his good deeds.

At least that is what I hear from the Fox News geezers.

If you think our involvement in Vietnam was treasonous, you could say the evidence goes back 56 years.

One one hand, I am not convinced about the whole paid a porn star story. Why would he need to? In any case, there are plenty of other stories about him, to come to a conclusion about his morality.

On the other hand, this is quite clear that the party with the moral superiority is…. oh, dear, we have a real problem. The Right had a genuine claim, but they sold their souls the moment they could.

I expect that we will be Republicans and Conservatives much like we are Boy Scouts. Let no one think this is a permanent state of affairs. (pun not intended, but probably accurate).
