The Doomerick

June 30th, 2017 by G.

Poor Cassandra.  The doomerick was the missing tool in her arsenal.

A nice little Civ in the West,

decided it’d be for the best

to cheer on the gay

and spend more than it could pay

and give common sense a good rest.

I’m working on one for Dr. Charlton and Dr. Woodley.  What rhymes with deleterious mutation?

Bruce Charlton spoke thus
(i.e, in a few blog posts told us)
that our current state of dna,
no matter how much we fuss
would cause slow and sure decay

He said it was the lack of geeneeus*
And that no matter how much we cuss
(*sorry about the word play)
comfort will not last, plus
this will happen soon, if not today

But no need to be a gloomy gus
Vain hopes, he says, are superfluous
And even though we are in the latter day
God’s plan for us is glorious
I believe behind each cloud there is ray

Drs. Woodley and Bruce
have let the genetic thought loose
that bad mutation
accumulation
is putting our heads in the noose

I am impressed, not because you did it, but because you showed that it could be done.

Vader

Let me try that again.

I am surprised and impressed that it could be done. Not at all surprised (but still impressed) that you were the one who showed it could be done.

Gleefully spurned the I Am

They deserve it, they do, that self-damn

Enlightened people have long known how to prevent replication of deleterious mutations.
