“Studying neurobiology to understand humans is like studying ink to understand literature”.
I found myself reading through these aphorisms – which I hadn’t seen before. And as when I previously read him, I found Taleb insightful – perhaps even wise. But behind it all is – I feel – something I am repelled by… pride and a kind of crushing domination? I don’t trust him, and since there is considerable power there, so I am wary of trusting myself to read too much.
Reductionism might be compared to measuring the hotness of mustard with a thermometer.
