And, if the observations, or measurements, or calculations are off …. it could steer an asteroid right into us when it would have otherwise missed us.

I am reminded of a famous syntax error, a semicolon instead of a comma or some such, in one of NASA’s FORTRAN programs from the 1960′s.

NASA and their subcontractors have lost us one Apollo crew, and two shuttle crews. I’d want some international cooperation on this project.
