Yeah. The first time I experienced it was when my wife was pregnant with our firstborn son, and we went for an amniocentesis. Before the procedure they gave the obligatory warnings of the slim chance of harm to the baby. I believe they said there was a 1-in-300 chance the baby would die. And this for the sake of finding out whether it had Downs syndrome or whatever.
The mere thought of a 1-in-300 chance of killing our baby brought tears to my eyes. I was amazed at my own feelings. We told them to take their amniocentesis and shove it.

Especially since, in my experience, if the baby shows any signs of Downs, the doctors are going to put a lot of pressure for an abortion.
