“The Army is testing the first body armor specifically tailored to fit women’s physiques.”
This is going to be a serious distraction on the battlefleld.
And the idea has other problems. A woman has as much right to defend herself as a man does, but that’s a very different matter from marching forth to battle. Some jobs really are a man’s job.
The best discussion I’ve found on women in combat is Co-ed Combat. And not just because the Birkenhead Drill is the theme of an entire chapter.

On a subway platform in Washington, D.C., I noticed that the soldier standing next to me was pregnant and that her uniform was appropriately cut to fit that condition. Maternity army uniforms hadn’t crossed my mind before seeing one.
