Polyamorous Marriage
August 29th, 2012 by Adam G.
The Devil and his party are too impatient in their attacks on marriage. In Brazil the opening move in a campaign to remove the bigoted restriction of marriage to two people has already begun. This lickerish haste will backfire.

I am increasingly convinced that almost all the activists who professed to scoff at the idea that gay marriage might led to legal polyamory were and are lying through their teeth.

Doesn’t that rather imply they thought it through? They were zealous enough to be convinced of their own right cause, and once they had that figured out, they didn’t need to know any more and all objections were by their definition, wrong.
Hubris and zeal without knowledge – much more deadly and complex than simple lying.

And I have had a sneaking suspicion that others would bring back polygamy before the Priesthood did. I still suspect the sisters will cry for it to be restored, before it is, but that is just a suspicion.

Keep your daughters off the pole and away from the sister-wives?

Zen, there’s a card on http://www.PostSecret.com
that expresses just that.
The photos are removed every week, but the following link to the actual .jpg will likely still work:

Adam, it’s about incrementalism, slippery slope, and margin creep.
From 35 to 15 years ago the “Gay Rights” movement would have vehemently denied in public that SSM was on their agenda.
In fact, for the last 35 years or so, the same people who are now pushing for gay marriage (progressives, social liberals, etc) were telling us that marriage wasn’t needed at all; that it was “just a piece of paper.”

JM: I was once at a Singles Family Home Evening, as the only male among seven unmarried women (all divorced or widowed actually). We started out with a pitch-in dinner. They all brought food. Had a picture taken of us as a group.

The goal is not to bring about polyamory. The goal is to eliminate the family as a meaningful unit of society, creating a blank slate for reordering Utopia properly.

MC, another way of stating that would be to say Satan’s goal is to reduce the number of people being born into comfortable situations, and to increase the number of people being born into miserable circumstances.
Children being born outside of stable marriages certainly correlates, statistically speaking, with more unhappiness, such as drugs, crime, abuse, etc.

Or to reduce the number of births over-all. Or to make adults more miserable by denying them the stability of marriage. Etc.

And now, the conservative case for polyamory: it will make marriage more stable(!)

Bookslinger – I have heard many single LDS women, when feeling depressed, express similar sentiments.
Adam – can’t say it surprises me. I expect the forms and kinds of marriage to multiply, even as marriage itself crumples. I see a kind of similarity to how so-called Liberal Christianity expands wider and wider, even while its churches wither on the vine.

The institution of marriage is beginning to resemble a river. The broader it gets, the shallower it gets.
