Choose Something Like a Star

A friend has loaned me a copy of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s recording of selected choral works by Randall Thompson. Randall Thompson isn’t new to me; I was introduced to Frostiana clear back during my time at the Jedi Temple and I’ve liked his works every since.

But this recording is really something. The orchestration for Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening is particularly good. Weepy-good, if you know what I mean.

The Orchestra at Temple Square is the best thing that’s happened for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir lately.
