Murders committed with bare hands in 2010: 745.
I do not know if the statistics on bare-handed murder include Force chokings. However, it seems clear that no murders using light sabers were included in the FBI statistics.

Now I am curious what the other methods were. Here I was thinking the Hitchcockian era of interesting murder methods was over.

Let’s also look at the number of murders and woundings of innocent people _prevented_ by an armed law-abiding citizen, which are usually done without having to shoot the bad guy or shooting at all.
I also like this quote from “All in the Family”:
Gloria: Do you know that sixty percent* of all deaths in America are caused by guns?
Archie Bunker: Would it make you feel any better, little girl, if they was pushed out of windows?
*Not true anyway.

Oh, Archie Bunker. For all that the producers and writers tried so very, very hard to write him as a cartoonish Neanderthal, many a hard truth did he speak in jest.

The show was kind of funny that way. For example, there was the marriage between “Meathead” and Archie’s daughter. Archie strongly disapproved of the marriage for reasons he never really articulated well. In retrospect, we see that Archie was right: “Meathead” basically married Archie’s daughter for free room, board, and sex while finishing college, then discarded her as soon as she was no longer useful.
Hard truth there. Remarkable that the producers felt that compelled to stick to reality.
