The GOP and conservatives lost a great opportunity over the last 4 years to hammer gainst the Community Reinvestment Act as the cause of the economic melt-down that started in 2008. In fact, it is pretty much the sole cause.
And failure to rail against it has emboldened the democrats currently in power to push for an expansion of it.
For those who don’t know what it is, it was mainly Barney Frank and Chris Dodd’s idea to force banks to give home loans to those who couldn’t afford it and didn’t qualify.
The thing of government forcing banks to loan to those who didn’t qualify even goes back to Janet Reno and the Justice Dept threatening banks and mortgage lenders to loan to unqualified borrowers under the guise of rectifying discrimination against minorities.
