"I have no idea what brought that on."

If I may be permitted the liberty of interpreting His Majesty's remark in this one instance, it seems probable that His Majesty is concerned that you are beginning to think altogether too much like himself, and a brief separation would restore your usefulness as an intellectual foil.

As you must obey your master, I recommend a few weeks in the lake country.

Apparently, it took compassionate liberals 40 years to learn this lesson, something that conservatives told them all along. Easy divorce and birthing children out of wedlock was going to have negative consequences.

Actually, the results were apparent very sooner than 40 years, but the compassionate liberals intentionally blinded themselves in the name of compassion. It has merely gotten to the point where it is now impossible to ignore it.

It also illustrates one of my refrains: If you remove the stigma from something that has generally been considered a 'bad thing', you'll get more of it.

How long will it take for the compassionate liberals to see the results of removing the stigma of homosexual relationships and acts? I say it will take 11 years, but again, compassion will blind those who dress themselves in compassion-fashion.

Yes, His Majesty noticed this while reading the paper this morning. (He's an avid New York Times reader, naturally.)

He predicted that, since it is obviously impossible to force the underprivileged to marry and say married, the obvious solution to this inequality is to encourage the overprivileged to divorce more often.

I pointed out that, judging from what we see in the arts, academia, and the popular media, such a program appears to already be in place.

His Majesty looked at me bleakly for a moment, then suggested we need to take separate vacations this year. I have no idea what brought that on.
