Not too many years ago, Gordon B. Hinckley said:
1. “Get as much education as you can.” With today’s high unemployment, that seems prophetic.
2. “Get out of debt”. With the current economic mess, national and global, that seems so prophetic.
3. “Get a year’s supply of food.” With the United States relying more and more on food imports, and the current international economic mess looming, possibly threatening food distribution, the price of food increasing faster than overall inflation (at least 10% per year at the retail level, over the last two years), that seems very prophetic. (As an aside, China is buying up large chunks of arable land around the globe, including in the United States.)
Those three items are very prophetic for the United States. But think of saints elsewhere in the world, and it is equally applicable to them, both in ecclesiastical terms and common sense.
