Mugging for Obama

May 03rd, 2012 by Bookslinger

“For all we know these people were targeted by reactionary, racist cops for the political speech on their t-shirts.”

Obama campaign T-shirts
The Smoking Gun says that these photos are mug shots from 2008. Snopes points out that there is no context to document that they are in fact mug shots of arrested individuals, nor when, where, or under what circumstances.

And as they say on COPS, “All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”

I prefer not to wear an Obama t-shirt.

Given that none are decorated with a booking placard, I have to agree with Snopes. We can’t be sure these are even mug shots.

The information on the traditional booking placard is now mostly added in via computer to be associated with the photo in the police database. It’s all electronic now. These days you often see booking photos in newspapers (print and online) without the placard.

Snopes seldom has anything informative to say. Just some people looking at things on the internet and saying, “Nah, I don’t think so,” or “Sure, why not?”

The whole thing is beyond tendentious. I think it’s mostly an invitation to laugh at some Black people, who overwhelmingly supported that candidacy, and sometimes got arrested while wearing a t-shirt. I dissent.

I see it through the opposite end of the viewing glass.

If anything can be guessed at, in regards to the intent of the person who assembled the composite graphic, I think it’s more to laugh at Obama, as in “Look who supports him” as opposed to “Look who these people are supporting.”

I laugh at _all_ people who supported that candidacy.

If one assumes that the t-shirt-wearing criminal class (as opposed to white-collar criminals) is less educated and less intelligent, then I suppose that those among them who bought into liberal lies and the demagoguery of the Democrats should receive increased compassion.

The scriptures promise that some day, all things will be made known, both in heaven and in earth. Not just things spiritual, but all things, good and bad, all truth, all lies, all secret acts, all sins, and the intents of men’s hearts.

It is at that point, that I think we will _all_ realize that we _all_ have bought into many lies during our lifetime.
