Maybe you could say that a (successful) mission prepares you for living full time with your own teenagers in the future.

I was an older missionary at the upper end of the age limit, then 26. At some point during my mission I realized I was never going to have children, because I never wanted to live with teenagers again.

Though in defense of Mormon teens, and Mormon missions, I eventually did realize (MANY years later) that my problems were more the result of my own Asperger's Syndrome and coming from an abusive/dysfunctional family myself than from the chaotic nature of teens and Mormon missions.

Oh, the things I could say if I weren't clinging tight to the tattered remnants of my decency.

Perhaps you can find better ways to motivate them.

We could have a seriously hilarious contest for the lamest teaching cliche in the Church. This one would probably make my Top Ten.
