Porn Makes You Impotent

October 27th, 2011 by G.

Frequent porn use impotentifies you, both literally and metaphorically.

I fear for my young men, who have the devils swarming them in a way I did not only 20 years ago, in my own not overly-clean or righteous generation. Like the scholar John Reilly observed, within living memory students would read things in classical texts that literally would have never otherwise occurred to them. Those days are over. The moral milieu of late antiquity, where the jaws of hell gaped so wide that even Christ was impelled in, are back with us.

My young men, my brothers in the priesthood, me, we are being forced to be heroes. Some will fail, though I pray God not. Some who fail may not fail forever.

Adam, you may decide that the following comment is just too explicit for this venue. I will not be offended.

I have an acquaintance who as a very young man, prior to being converted to Christ, was briefly but heavily involved in (by today’s standards, rather tame) pornography. He is convinced that this put him on a hair trigger, so to speak: His marriage has been severely strained by his difficulties with premature ejaculation. I suppose that can be considered a form of impotence.

Moral: Your mileage may vary, but porn indulgence seems like a bad risk even in purely temporal terms. The spiritual damage is of even greater concern.
