Those sound like points in favor of JG-designated observation points. Citadels of sanity safe from the heathen and/or plywood monolith-surrounding 2001 fans.

I am basking in the happy thought of the local pagans leaping upon the altars they have made, and with knives and lancets cutting themselves after the manner. Great fun.

Do we want to appoint JG-designated observation points? Or just promote the 2012 Junior Ganymede Solar Eclipse as something under whose shadow everyone ought to bask? Is bask the right word? Cower?

I've read about the Mayan thing, but did Nostradamus have anything to say about 2012?

I'm already committed to viewing it from Chaco Canyon with a couple of evildoer friends. Y'all would be right at home.

Chaco Canyon always makes me nostalgic for home ...

Watching it from a mountain-top sounds like fun. Maybe we should make this an official JG sponsored event.

Yep, that's the reason for putting this out there eight months ahead of the event. It would be terrible to commit to talk in stake priesthood meeting or something and then learn of this. I've been thinking about this the past three years. Anyone else who would care about it more than a year out would have already known, but how much anticipation would be useful to others? I didn't feel like waiting any longer.

On the evidence, ditching Choir Practice for something more interesting.
