That’s a pretty . . . special painting too, MC.

The Church will never be old enough to sift out all the chaff, as long as new art continues to be made. A Canticle for Liebowitz has a pretty good passage on how that works.

There is actually some really good stuff put out by Church members, but the Church is young enough that not all the chaff has been sifted out of the wheat.

That missionary painting: Wow, just…wow. When you said it was the kitschiest painting of the age, I was imagining this one:

Normally I’d ask why you say that like it’s a bad thing.

However, in this case, I have to agree. It makes me recoil, which is an interesting role reversal.

Fortunately, the linked gallery includes some genuinely good art.
