Adam and Vader: Are you drawing your conclusions upon tea party folk whom you personally know, or are you just going by what you see on the telly?

My initial reaction was that she was a breath of fresh air in the McCain campaign. Then the Left lit into her in a way that amused my interest also, in a train wreck kind of way.

But her subsequent deification by a segment of the Tea Party movement kind of turns my stomach. As a vice presidential candidate, she was an inspired choice. I would be okay voting for her for my Congresswoman. As POTUS? She's not ready, and she probably never will be. But offering that opinion draws an astonishingly vituperative reaction out of a number of folks who really ought to know better.

What amuses my interest is how vehemently the left attacks her. I am not a huge Palin fan, though I generally think she is a little better on average.

Bookslinger,

Your general observation may be correct. But when you get into the specifics, I think Miss Scalia and Adam are correct. I'm not a Palin-hater, but I could become one if the cult of personality around her gets any worse.

I've encountered a conservative cult of personality and identity politics in the fans of La Palin.

She's got it wrong.

In regards to the media: I have not observed the level of cult of personality, or worship of conservative candidates, among conservative media figures that I have seen among liberal media figures for liberal candidates.

Among the grass roots, I think she's also got it wrong. I have not observed the cult of personality among people I know who are conservatives that I have seen among people I know who are liberal.

This harkens to one of the fundemental differences of liberal versus conservative. Conservatives deal more with substance, track-record and results, whereas liberals deal more with appearances, promises, and good intentions.

Cult of personality is created much more easily and quickly (where did Obama come from, and how did he rise so quickly? What were his accomplishments and track record?) among liberals and liberalism, because you can more quickly manufacture good-sounding speeches and good intentions than you can a track-record and real-life results.

Sorry, but Miss Scalia is allowing the liberal media to paint her false view of grass-roots conservatives and Tea Party supporters.
