Unfortunately, looking at my (non-tithing) donations and service hours last year, I directed almost all of it towards helping folks in need. So even I’ve got room for improvement.

I don’t know where the author got his figure that LDS Charities had donated $1 billion or over what time period this figure is for. I checked and LDS Charities is organized as a Utah Non-Profit but they apparently haven’t put their 990s online.
